Houghton Feast is an ancient festival held every October in Houghton-le-Spring, near Durham and Sunderland, in the North East of England. The Festival dates back to the 12th century when it originated as Michaelmas, the dedication service to the Parish Church of St Michael & All Angels.
Houghton Feast is a 10 day festival, starting on the evening of 8th October, and features a fairground, traditional whole ox roasting, church events, carnival parade, shows, community events, exhibitions, talks and tours, and fireworks!
